Gambling in Australia is a public health crisis. The voice of women is often forgotten or unheard. The Untangle Project is working with our partners to achieve an equal voice for women in the case for change.

Women are telling us that they feel afraid to speak up about their experiences with gambling harm or supporting others who are experiencing it. This needs to change.

Most women who have spoken with us have used one of three words - guilt, shame or fear. There should never be a situation where these words should be the default reaction to conversations around gambling harm. Our work and partners are focused on creating space spaces where women to express how they have been affected by gambling harm and if they choose, work with us to change the way women’s voices are heard by decision makers to elicit positive and effective change.
